Updated: Feb 18, 2019

1. Strengthen Your Immune System

Vitamin D supports the “killer T cells” of your immune system. A "T" cell is a white blood cell (a type of lymphocyte) which destroys infected and cancerous cells. Without Vitamin D your "T" cells won't survive thus resulting in disease!

2. Depression

Vitamin D has been shown to have a positive effect on low mood. Woman going through the dreaded menopause years often suffer from mood disorders, anything that minimizes your mood troubles is worth trying!

3. Increase your fertility

Estrogen dominance is one of the main causes of infertility and the root of a laundry list of symptoms and hormone-related disease in women. Estrogen dominance was part of my cancer diagnosis, estrogen was feeding my cancer! A study in 2010 https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19916051 showed that high doses of vitamin D lowered estradiol (one type of estrogen) and progesterone.

High estrogen levels can make conception a nightmare.

4. Prevent breast cancer

70% of women with breast cancer are vitamin D deficient and among the other benefits of vitamin D for women, it has been shown to prevent breast cancer cell growth and decrease the expression of cancer-causing genes. Estrogen dominance plays a role of the majority of breast cancer patients, thus another reason to up your vitamin D level!

5. Heart Disease In the Framingham Heart Study, patients with low vitamin D concentrations had a 60% higher risk of heart disease than those with higher concentrations.

Are you getting enough vitamin D?

In one study, 93% of women with infertility were vitamin D deficient https://www.telegraph.co.uk/women/womens-health/3434420/Vitamin-D-can-aid-fertility.html. In 2006, a government study showed that two-thirds of women are vitamin D deficient https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17031008.
